Radio Frequency IDentification (RFID) for Birds

For more information contact Eli Bridge - ebridge@ou.edu.

Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology allows for contactless communication between powered reading device and a passive identification tag or transponder. RFID has many applications for bird research because the tags can be very small (less than 0.1g) and they have an unlimited lifespan (at least theoretically) because they do not require a battery. The links above describe some of the ways we have used RFID technology to study birds.
